About Us

Masala Dandenong Football Club (Masala) was incorporated in August 2012 and played its first season of football in 2013, in the Victorian Amateur Football Association in Club XVIII (3).

The club has experienced significant growth in playing numbers and continues to improve on field performances each year and now competes in the VAFA's 'Thirds' competition with two participating teams.

The club began following the 2012 AFL International Cup when a number of Melbourne based Indian Representatives wanted to continue playing football in an environment they felt comfortable and included in. Masala quickly became the home for anyone from anywhere who wanted to play football.

Since our inception, Masala has always taken to the field with passion, determination and respect for our opponents. In our short history, the club has visited the finals 3 times with our most successful season being our 2022 senior season where the club made the preliminary final.

In 2024, the club played in the 'thirds' competition in a decision that ultimately not only saved but rejuvenated the spirit of the club. With a much younger list, the club moulded to a more run-and-gun or 'HokBall' way of play. This new play saw the seniors once again return to the finals with a semi-finals appearence.

Our mission is to engage culturally and linguistically diverse communities in the Greater Dandenong area and introduce them to football. Masala aims to promote diversity within the football community, as well as encouraging all people from a range of backgrounds to enjoy the comradery and community that only a football club atmosphere provides. The club’s core accountability is to not only its players, but also their families and friends to ensure a welcoming and enjoyable environment for all.

Our home ground is Lois Twohig Reserve, located at 80 Carlton Road, North Dandenong VIC 3175.
